Thoughts

Dear Christine Since in the present circumstances visiting is not appropriate, I am resorting to email to express our feelings and sympathy on Ian's passing. It must have been an enormous shock to you and the family and you are all bound to feel the loss very greatly. He was truly a family man. I think our first contact was through the photographic club at Glaxo and then at the history society. Later we were deeply involved through the U3A. Ian gave me great support during my chairmanship- we had so many teething problems with equipment and the with venues. He set us up at the Jersey Farm. Subsequently, he went on to serve himself as chairman, twice. I always enjoyed working with him and having his support. We hope that the respect and regard that we all felt for Ian is of some consolation to you all. If there is anything we can do to help please do not hesitate to ask. With Deepest Sympathy, Eileen and Barry Cook

Hello Christine Yes a great shock for us all. Rotary District did contact me yesterday so that I knew before the official email went out but I do appreciate you getting in touch. Ian and I had become friends as well as Rotary colleagues and had plans to start training sessions on anything to do with club websites and social media. When you come to terms with that first horrendous shock and distress then I am sure you will look back with pride on everything that Ian has achieved. I am pleased you have your daughter with you. My husband and I wish you well and in any other circumstances we would be with you to witness Ian laid to rest. God bless Christine Margaret Fenwick

Dear Chris Thank you for sending this to me. It is a lovely obituary which gets to the heart of the matter. Ian was an intelligent, gentle and kind man who gave his best, particularly on subjects that interested him. It was nothing more than he deserved. Glad you are getting nice weather comparatively early this year. It is still nice here, in fact this past month has been almost ideal with the daily temperature reaching in the range of 19 to 24 day after day...and sunny most days too. Still all ok here. Staying home and washing hands. Love Graeme and all x
